New Deacon Roles
Greetings Congregation,
With joy and excitement, the Deacons announce that we are revamping our roles! Starting this fall, everyone in our congregation has a Deacon who will connect with them, pray for them, and find help when needed. Deacons will foster connections within and across our family of faith.
A new administrative tool the church is using to help foster these connections is called “Connecting Groups.” Connecting Groups are an administrative tool to help arrange our congregation into “neighborhoods” grouped by location. Our surrounding community has tripled in size since FPC moved to its “new” building—the neighborhoods are multiplying and growing! By expanding our Deacon roles to include every family arranged into Connecting Groups, we hope to foster authentic and friendly connections throughout our church body. Trying new things is also a good strategy to keep our family of faith vibrant and fresh!
So, when your Deacon contacts you, please say “Hello!” Let them know how you like to be contacted (phone, text, email, home visit, even Snapchat!), too. Remember to speak up and contact your Deacon if you need prayer or help in anyway. You can always call a Pastor or the church office, yet be assured that Deacons are another point of contact for you in the FPC family of faith.
How can Deacons help me?
- Praying for you and your family
- Sending greeting cards to lift you up or celebrate milestones
- Coordinating rides to church
- Sending extra meals
- Helping in times of grief
- Providing information about FPC and upcoming events
- Connecting you with FPC members in your neighborhood
Just let them know what you need!
How do I find out who is my Deacon? Remember, you don’t have to do anything specific. You can wait and see which Deacon connects with you—they will be sending out messages this fall to introduce themselves. Or, you can always contact the church office or the Deacon Moderator, Jamie Roberts, roberts607jamie@gmail.com or 585-760-9621 and ask.

Student & Military Care Package Drive
The fall Care Package Drive runs through October 11.

Waunakee Food for Kidz
Waunakee Food For Kidz is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing nutritious meals to individuals and families facing hunger—both here in Dane County and around the world. Each year, they host a community‑driven meal‑packaging event, and over the past 20 years volunteers have helped assemble an incredible 4,692,778 meals.
The 21st annual meal-packaging event takes place on October 11, 2026, at Dane Manufacturing.
FPC is sponsoring three tables and seeking 30 volunteers to package meals from 12:00–2:00 p.m., with sign-ups at the Mission Table.

Just a reminder if your bank mails donation checks on your behalf, or you use a broker to send IRA or Donor Advised Funds to FPC, you will want to notify them of our address change.

We use the Connector to share news of the coming week and beyond, the activities that involve a wide range of ages and interests at FPC.

Wednesday, September 23 – FPC Men’s Kickoff
The initial study session “When Your Way Isn’t Working” by Pastor/Author Kyle Idleman. This will be a 5-week session, and our study will focus on the scripture found in John 15:5, where Jesus tells his followers; “I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain in me, and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can’t do anything”. Instead of going it alone in life we are to stay connected to Him!

Calling all quilting enthusiasts!
Our monthly quilters’ gatherings are a perfect blend of creativity, connection, and purpose.
Meetings feature plenty of socializing, a fun “Show & Tell” of our latest quilt creations, and helpful discussions to tackle any quilting challenges or questions.

Want to help others with minor household repairs, maintenance or yard work? Contact the church office or any of the Deacons. Your name will be added to a call list and you may be contacted to see if you can help when a request is received.
Help Create a Safe & Welcoming Space on Sundays
FPC is looking for caring, observant volunteers to serve as House Managers during Sunday services. This role helps ensure a safe and welcoming environment by monitoring the building and surroundings during worship.
If you’re calm under pressure, attentive to detail, and enjoy supporting others behind the scenes, we’d love to have you on the team!
Agrace Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed to assist customers and operate the cash register at the Doc Rock Café located inside the Agrace Madison campus or make companionship visits to local Agrace hospice patients in patients’ homes, nursing homes or assisted living centers.
Schedules are flexible, and free training is provided. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Agrace at (608) 327-7163 or visit Agrace.org/Volunteer to apply online.

Serve & Support Our Community – Volunteer or Donate!
We’re looking for volunteers to help distribute food from 4 – 6 PM the last Wednesday of each month to help serve our community. It’s a great way to connect with others and make a meaningful impact.

Bethel Bible Series
FPC Nursery for Ages 4 and under
Nursery Age 4 and Under – Room 200
The Nursery is available on Sundays from 9 – 11:00 AM throughout the month and is staffed by church staff and volunteers who love children and want to share God’s love with them.
Attention Young Musicians
If you sing, play piano, organ, a string, woodwind or brass instrument and would like to sing or play a song during a church service, we’d LOVE to hear you!
You could play a prelude or a piece during a Sunday morning service.

When life is hard, you need more than a cute poster.
When you or someone you know is having a tough time in life, trying to handle things like:
• Grief or loss
• Chronic or terminal illness
• Job loss or financial strain
• Loneliness or major life transitions (empty nest, relocation, etc.)
• Divorce or separation
FPC has a group of highly trained caregivers who can help out during these and other difficult situations. Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who have been carefully selected and trained to support people going through a hard time. A Stephen Minister meets with a person regularly, one to one, just to listen and care and walk with that person throughout that difficult time.
Men are paired with men, and women with women. Stephen Ministers understand reflective listening, healthy boundaries, and strongly support the importance of absolute confidentiality. Since its beginning at FPC in 2016, our Stephen Ministers have helped dozens of people both from FPC and the wider community journey through tough times.
