A Note from Student Ministries

Family reminds us where love is first learned. In our homes—whether with parents, children, siblings, or chosen family—we discover what it means to belong, to sacrifice, and to stay committed even when things are hard. God often uses family relationships to shape our character, teaching us patience, grace, and faithfulness. This is why partnering with families through ministries like confirmation is so important: it creates intentional space for students and their families to grow in faith together, laying a spiritual foundation that lasts.

Friendships are another gift meant to strengthen our walk and lighten our load. True friends walk with us in joy and sorrow, challenge us to grow, and remind us that we’re not meant to do life alone. This is a huge part of why youth ministry matters. When students gather together, they form Christ-centered friendships that encourage them, ground them, and help them see faith in action among peers. In a world that can feel isolating, youth ministry creates a community where young people experience belonging, accountability, and genuine joy.

Finally, we are called to live free from the weight of grudges. Holding onto bitterness quietly steals our joy and damages relationships God desires to restore. Forgiveness doesn’t excuse hurtful behavior, but it releases our hearts from being controlled by it. This is a message both teens and adults need regularly, and confirmation and youth ministry help model and teach it in practical, relatable ways. When we choose grace over resentment, we reflect Christ’s love and open the door for healing—both for others and for ourselves.

Director of Student Ministries

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
Romans 12:12

We exist as a congregation to know Jesus Christ and to make Him known:

  • To proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ so all may come to know and love Him;
  • To nurture His people in joyful faith, fellowship, and commitment; and
  • To demonstrate His way of love in service to the world.

We use the Connector to share news of the coming week and beyond, the activities that involve a wide range of ages and interests at FPC.

When life is hard you need more than a cute poster.

If you are having a tough time with:
• Dealing with family problems
• Chronic or terminal illness in your family
• Grief
• Loneliness
• Divorce recovery

FPC has a group of Stephen Minister Caregivers trained to walk with you through these problems. They help you think things through, find resources available, look for a Biblical view of the problem, pray for you and with you if you wish. The 50 hours of training have provided them with an understanding of reflective listening, boundaries, and the importance of absolute confidentiality.

Since its beginning in 2017, Stephen Ministries helped hundreds of people both from FPC and the wider community journey through tough times.  If you want more information, you can talk to a pastor, a deacon, or one of the active Stephen Ministers listed below.
