Dear Beloved Church Family

I greet you with deep gratitude and joy as I step into the role of Interim Director of Children and Family Ministry. It is both a privilege and a sacred responsibility to walk alongside our children as they grow in faith, wonder, and love.

In a world that often moves too fast and speaks too loudly, our children need steady voices and gentle hands to guide them. They need to see faith lived out—not just spoken about. Every moment we spend with them, every story we tell, every prayer we whisper over their lives becomes part of the spiritual foundation they will carry into adulthood.

Showing up matters. Whether you’re a parent, a grandparent, a volunteer, or simply someone who cares—your presence is powerful. You are a living testimony of God’s love. When you teach, when you listen, when you model grace and forgiveness, you are planting seeds that will bear fruit for generations.

As Scripture reminds us:

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

— Proverbs 22:6

Let us be a community that surrounds our children with faith, hope, and love. Let us be the hands and feet of Jesus in their lives. And let us never underestimate the eternal impact of simply showing up.

We currently have around 15 children enrolled in Sunday School, and we’re excited to welcome even more! To help nurture these young hearts and minds, we’re seeking additional volunteers who are passionate about teaching, sharing faith, and creating joyful memories that will last a lifetime.

If you’re interested in volunteering or would like to register your child or grandchild, I’d love to connect with you and share more details.

With love and anticipation,

Angela Himegarner
Interim Director of Children and Family Ministry

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
Romans 12:12

We exist as a congregation to know Jesus Christ and to make Him known:

  • To proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ so all may come to know and love Him;
  • To nurture His people in joyful faith, fellowship, and commitment; and
  • To demonstrate His way of love in service to the world.

We use the Connector to share news of the coming week and beyond, the activities that involve a wide range of ages and interests at FPC.

Coming Events | Weekly Connector: Sept. 14 – 20

Sunday School Starts this Sunday!

Families interested in Sunday School can still register here.

The Children’s Ministry team is looking for volunteers to be Sunday School teachers.  The only qualifications are faith in God and a love for children.  No need to be a Bible scholar as the curriculum we use at FPC provides a complete lesson plan each week.  By using a teacher-team approach the time commitment is minimal and the rewards are outstanding!  So please prayerfully consider joining our team and help to bring the word of the Lord to the youngest in our congregation.

For more information, please email Angela Himegarner at angela.himegarner@myfpc.org or call/text Angela at (816) 499-3998.

Together, we’ll create a supportive, non-judgmental space where compassion and connection are at the center. This group is more than a “Moms Group”—because we are more than just moms. We’ll explore the many layers of our lives with wholehearted acceptance, sharing stories, questions, and wisdom as we grow together.

When life is hard you need more than a cute poster.

If you are having a tough time with:
• Dealing with family problems
• Chronic or terminal illness in your family
• Grief
• Loneliness
• Divorce recovery

FPC has a group of Stephen Minister Caregivers trained to walk with you through these problems. They help you think things through, find resources available, look for a Biblical view of the problem, pray for you and with you if you wish. The 50 hours of training have provided them with an understanding of reflective listening, boundaries, and the importance of absolute confidentiality.

Since its beginning in 2017, Stephen Ministries helped hundreds of people both from FPC and the wider community journey through tough times.  If you want more information, you can talk to a pastor, a deacon, or one of the active Stephen Ministers listed below.

Tryg Knutson – 608-622-9539
