How to Keep our Heads High this Lenten Season

As I write this message to you today, the sun is shining through my front window and it is a cloudless, picture-perfect morning.  But we know that things are not picture-perfect. Not in our world, and not in our individual lives, nor deep in our hearts. We are all fallen people, living in a fallen world. Sounds like such a pessimistic way to begin this week’s Connector, doesn’t it, but we know that it’s true.

What is also true, is that we have hope, because we have Jesus.  Spring is coming, and with it, new life all around us. For Christians, the biggest “New Life” celebration we have is the Life we have in Jesus Christ, who came to us as a human baby, grew to manhood having known the frailties of the human condition. He gave in to none of the temptations of humanity, instead bearing all our sins upon His body as He willingly endured the cross, to take the punishment that should have been ours.

We are called to pray without ceasing, lifting up others as well as ourselves, and petitioning on behalf of our world in its tribulation. In this season of Lent, we try to walk the forty-day journey with our Lord, grieving as he suffered for our sake, yet knowing that the day of celebration will come. On that Easter morning, only a little more than three weeks from now, we will join together and proclaim that Christ is Risen Indeed!

Because he lives, we can face tomorrow!

2026 Congregational Meeting FAQ

Please view this document as a follow up to the Congregational Meeting questions.

FPC Financial Condition

Before, during and after our congregational meeting, several folks were very interested in our financial condition. After confirming with the session, we have decided to include a high level summary of our general fund actual income and expenses. When the actual income is even or higher than our actual expenses, we are in good shape. This chart shows year to date (YTD) through February (which includes January and February income and expenses). We are nearly even, at $142,626.06 in income and $142,575.74 in expenses. Note that January has a higher level of general fund income than most other months.

Need Delivery Volunteers – Easter Baskets/Bags

On the Saturday before Palm Sunday the Waunakee Ecumenical Board along with community volunteers build and deliver hundreds of Easter Baskets as a way of saying thanks to our Senior Church Members [those age 80 and over].

If you would like to help with this WEB Project we greatly need volunteers at 9:30AM, Saturday, March 28 at Peace Lutheran Church, 701 S Century Avenue, Waunakee.

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
Romans 12:12

We exist as a congregation to know Jesus Christ and to make Him known:

  • To proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ so all may come to know and love Him;
  • To nurture His people in joyful faith, fellowship, and commitment; and
  • To demonstrate His way of love in service to the world.

We use the Connector to share news of the coming week and beyond, the activities that involve a wide range of ages and interests at FPC.

When life is hard you need more than a cute poster.

If you are having a tough time with:
• Dealing with family problems
• Chronic or terminal illness in your family
• Grief
• Loneliness
• Divorce recovery

FPC has a group of Stephen Minister Caregivers trained to walk with you through these problems. They help you think things through, find resources available, look for a Biblical view of the problem, pray for you and with you if you wish. The 50 hours of training have provided them with an understanding of reflective listening, boundaries, and the importance of absolute confidentiality.

Since its beginning in 2017, Stephen Ministries helped hundreds of people both from FPC and the wider community journey through tough times.  If you want more information, you can talk to a pastor, a deacon, or one of the active Stephen Ministers listed below.
