We do this work with the understanding that our youth are experiencing significant trauma, impacting our already vulnerable communities. We’re working hard to meet the needs of our youth and families by providing a safe environment, encouraging positive youth development, and building resiliency. Every day, we live our mission to Strengthen the Lives of Youth and Families. In Dane County, approximately 300 youth go to bed homeless each night. • 1 in 3 youth will be approached for sex in exchange for food, shelter, drugs, etc. within 48 hours of leaving home; • 75% of these youth have or will drop out of school. • 86% of runaway youth report being physically abused. These are good kids in bad situations and they need our help. The staff at Briarpatch Youth Services works with these youth (and other youth populations) to make sure they have the resources and support they need in order to succeed.
