Susan Vergeront, Associate Pastor

Susan came to FPC in 2003 as our second Associate Pastor. Prior to that time, she served as solo pastor and head of staff at churches in Germantown Wisconsin, Caledonia Illinois and Waterloo Iowa prior to her call here. She also did counseling and education programs for the Milwaukee Rescue Mission and transitional housing programs. She received her Master of Divinity from
Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, with Presbyterian courses taken at McCormick Seminary in Chicago.

Born in Milwaukee and raised in Manitowoc Wisconsin, Susan graduated from UW in Madison in 1967 with a degree in Political Science. Prior to her call into ministry, Susan was active in
politics serving on a local school board for 6 years and Representative to the State Assembly from Ozaukee/Sheboygan Counties for 10 years.

She attended Seminary while serving in the legislature, and reports that she loved both politics and ministry, but that God’s call was stronger. She noticed as a law maker that you can change all the laws, but it means little if people don’t want to do the right thing. Only God can change
our hearts. Asked what her favorite part in ministry is she will tell you; “Seeing people’s faith
take hold and come alive is my greatest reward in ministry!”

Susan has three grown children and four grandchildren who all live in Wisconsin. Her
areas of responsibility here at FPC include resourcing the education, fellowship, mission
and outreach teams, as well as backing up the other pastors and preaching when needed.
