Any items for the Sunday worship bulletin or this announcement page are due in Grace Donaldson’s e-mail box or church office mailbox by Wednesdays at 12:00 noon. Items that miss the deadline will miss that week’s bulletin. Questions? Call Grace Donaldson, 849-4625. NEW MEMBERS’ CLASS — ONE DAY ONLY! For the summer class, we condense the usual 5-week class into one day. Topics covered include “What it means to be a Christian,” “What it means to be a Presbyterian,” and “Where I can ‘plug in’ to life at FPC?” Everyone is welcome! This is not a commitment to join. If you do decide you would like to be a member, new members will be received in worship on Sunday, August 8. NEEDLEWORK/HANDWORK GROUPS SUMMER SCHEDULE—The afternoon group will continue meeting through the summer (fourth Tuesday, 2:30 pm in the Gathering Place), but the evening group will take a break for the summer and reconvene in September. Come and enjoy the camaraderie on Tuesday afternoons, July 27 and August 24. Feel free to join us for knitting, crocheting, embroidery, hand quilting, etc. If you don’t know how, someone can teach you. Try your hand at making things with fabric & yarn – for yourself and others (prayer shawls, blankets, hats, purses, scarves, aprons, bibs, etc). Share ideas and teach others, visit with friends old & new. Everybody’s welcome – bring family and friends. SERVE UP A SMILE TO SOMEONE! Meals on Wheels is an invaluable service to those who are home-bound, delivering meals—and smiles!—to those who can’t get out of their homes on the first Friday of every month at 10:30 AM. You can feed both the body and soul of people in the community! Sign up at the Mission Station in the Connection Center, or make a note by your name on the friendship pad. The address and contact information for volunteers and drivers is: 333 South Madison Street, Waunakee, WI 53597; 849-8385; fax 849-8387. Questions? Call Nancy Becker, 849-4194. HELP WITH MEALS FOR THE HOMELESS On the fourth Thursday of each month, FPC cooks, delivers, and serves a meal to homeless men in downtown Madison. This is a great opportunity for families to provide practical help — sign up at the Mission Station in the Connection Center, or call Bob Feller at 849-7449. BACKPACKS FOR KIDS Back to school is the second largest retail season of the year next to Christmas, and it often puts a particular financial strain on families in need with school children in their home. For this reason, the Waunakee Ecumenical Board, Joining Forces with Families, and Waunakee Neighborhood Connection are teaming up to collect donations of backpacks for Waunakee school children in need for this coming school year. Donations of new backpacks for kids in grades K through 12 are being accepted in the Connection Center (to your left as you exit the Sanctuary) throughout the month of July. Donations can also be made through the church office; make checks out to the Waunakee Ecumenical Board. Thank you in advance for supporting those in need in our community. SUPPORT THE FOOD PANTRY You can drop items in the grocery cart in the Education Wing any time the church is open! Items needed: Baking mixes and supplies, pancake mix, jams and jellies, boxed dinners, toiletry items, spaghetti sauce, healthful children’s snacks. If you have questions, or would like to volunteer at the food pantry, call Lynda Bennin, 849-8656. Thanks!
Join us for the class “Dust to Glory.” We will be watching and discussing the video series by R. C. Sproul that gives an excellent overview of the Bible. IS THERE A MAJOR LIFE EVENT IN YOUR FAMILY? LET US KNOW! Your Pastors, Elders, and Deacons care about you, and want to rejoice when you rejoice, and weep when you weep — but we aren’t mind readers! Let us know if something significant is happening in the life of you or your family: Weddings Call the church office at 849-4625. WATCH THE SERVICE AT HOME! Did you know that FPC worship services can be viewed on public access cable stations the following week? Have you tried watching recently, and couldn’t find it? Due to changes at the cable company, the channels on which FPC worship is available have changed:
Channel 979.1 (cable and digital) Every Sunday ENJOY A FEW MOMENTS OF QUIET MEDITATION BEFORE (OR AFTER) WORSHIP! The Chapel is open for prayer and meditation before and after each Worship Service. Seats, kneelers, Bibles, and devotionals are available for your use.
