sunday music

"The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.” 2 Chronicles 1:13

Since Biblical times, music has been central to worship, and so it is here at FPC! We feature a variety of musical groups including; Adult Choir, Praise Band (guitar, drum, piano, vocals), Men’s Chorus, Joyful Noise (instrumental group), and Joyful Brass (brass ensemble).

Announcing the Spring Cantata
Last year the Adult Choir performed our first ever cantata "The Lord of the Dance" on the Sunday after Easter.  It was a half-hour musical event with full choir, narration, and instrument ensemble.  This year, the Adult Choir will be presenting our second cantata on Sunday, April 8. We would love to have you join the choir for this performance!  This program is very accessible to all singing abilities and is a wonderful chance to sing in a choir without the year-long commitment.  Rehearsals will be Wednesday evenings at 8:15pm in the sanctuary beginning January 10, 2018.  For more information please contact Andy Estervig via email (click here).

Adult Choir
You only have to set foot inside the doors of this, or any, church to appreciate the beauty of choral singing. To a new singer though, the thought of choral singing may seem daunting, particularly for someone unable to read music. With that in mind, here are a few reasons to get started.

  • A New Challenge: Learning to sing is a challenge in itself, but learning to sing with others is a skill that makes it all the more rewarding.
  • Social Benefits: As with any club or social group, membership will not only enhance your circle of friends but also your social life.
  • Education: There is a wealth of sacred choral music to discover and being part of a choir is one way of finding some of the hidden gems of sacred choral repertoire.
  • Health Benefits: Singing is an ideal way to relax and relieve stress as it provides an outlet from the pressures of daily life.
  • A Lifelong Passion: Choral singing can become a hobby for life. There are no age or gender restrictions, it requires only time to join. There’s no need to purchase an instrument.

Adult Choir Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm in the sanctuary. For more information, contact Andrew Estervig at

Joyful Noise Instrumental Ensemble meets on Thursdays at 7:00pm - come and check it out anytime! Sam Robinson is looking for instrumentalists of all skill levels and would love to hear from you if you have any questions about being a part of Joyful Noise.

Finally, if you are interested in learning more about First Praise (our second-service worship team), Nancy Groeneveld, FPC's first ever Director of Worship and Music, would love to have the opportunity to connect with you! We are looking for instrumentalists and vocalists, as well as people who can serve at the sound/video console. I know that there are some singers and instrumentalists in our congregation who have been waiting for an opportunity to explore being a part of the praise team—here’s your invitation!
