Senior Pastor

The truths of the Christian faith first became real to me when I was a junior in high school—through a series of evening Bible studies in my coach's living room. I discovered Jesus Christ could take hold of a life in a thrilling and life-changing way. I rejoiced in the discovery that MY way through this life would not be a maze but a Man. I remember feeling Christ's claim upon my life. I feel it to this very day. Looking back I can see Christ has been at work all along in a family filled with faith. My grandfather was a missionary in Africa. That's where my dad was born. My parents chose the name "Kirk" for me, a Scottish word meaning "church."

As I have tried to follow where Jesus leads, I have found myself on an incredible journey—from ministry to teenage prostitutes along the streets of Times Square to an orphanage in Chicago, from rewarding experiences with congregations in inner-city Philadelphia, London, and now Waunakee.

I have fallen in love with ministry, and with the Church of Jesus Christ: with the challenge of preaching week by week, of teaching the Bible to youth and adults, of caring for a congregation of wonderful folks, whom I've come to know and love.

My wife's name is Faith (no kidding!). Together we've been amazed at all that God has done, and is currently DOING, at FPC! From a small, loving handful of families a number of years ago to a growing congregation of close to 800 today, the Spirit of God has been falling afresh on FPC in ever new and exciting ways!

kirk-familyCome see for yourself, why don't you? Here is my personal invitation to YOU to come and see. Join us for worship this Sunday. We have two services with childcare available all morning. Come and discover a place to believe, belong, and become. We'd love to get to know you. We don't consider anyone a "stranger" here, but rather a friend whom we haven't met yet!

Here's an invitation right out of The Good Book: "Come, taste and see that the Lord is good. His steadfast love is forever, and His faithfulness is to all generations!"
