So he [Jesus] got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Be still! Settle down!” Then the wind died down and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39

graphic of person in a stormWhen you are in the midst of a storm, often the first thing you think of is “Now what?” Maybe you even start to panic and thrash around, trying to fix everything on your own. That has often been my personal experience.

But then I remember, my Lord has calmed the seas and asked us to bring all our burdens and problems to him. If we look to Jesus, we take our eyes off the storm and our worry, and can clear our mind to hear God’s leading and find clear thinking.

Tempests come and go through out our lives, but the Lord is there to calm them and to walk with us through the storm to the peace. The next time we see storm warnings, we should be sure to look to the Lord before they blow us over.
